Heroes--Season 1 Finale

Ok, so I'm a little behind on my DVR watching. But myself and everyone I've talked to thought this was a horrific end to the season. They build this thing up so much throughout the season that I think they just wrote themselves into a spot of trouble. This show has done a pretty good job of mixing up comic book archetypes with real life settings and characters. But just when they needed to really bang home the archetype, they wimped it out. By this I mean the end battle between Peter and his Anti-thesis should have been much grander--I was envisioning something like the burly brawl at the end of the third Matrix film. But it seemed like they had given us a vision of the future with Hiro stabbing him with a sword so they were forced to work that in somehow. Anyway, I was driving home today from a roadtrip and thought up what could have been a much better ending.
Let's just stick to the end scene, since I think everything up to there was pretty good. Let's take all the characters in that end scene and just change things up a bit. I think they should have had the battle between Sylar and Peter go on for much longer, with both of them going back and forth using the powers they've stolen/gained. Then Sylar could have gotten the upper hand and done something to make Peter go unconscious. Or, if the writer's had something cooking for next season and they wanted him out of the picture, then Sylar could have killed him. This would have given us an excellent tear-jerk scene of Claire watching him die. Perhaps Sylar uses his fire power, but Peter fights back with the same power until Sylar fries him and pushes him back. Then, enter Hiro, stage left. He takes a swing at Sylar but misses. Sylar is about to fight back using one of his powers, but Parkman hears his thoughts and yells a warning to Hiro. Hiro ducks or avoids the attack, then strikes back, stabbing him through the chest. Sylar's glowing hands were dimming until this point, but now he has a gaping wound. In his shock, his fire power begins to flare up, raging out of control due to his agony. Hiro goes in for the killing blow but Sylar pushes him into the building like in the actual scene. He then lights up in flames, so much that those around watching are forced to step back farther and farther from the heat in the air. No one can get close enough to do anything and they lose hope. Then all of a sudden flying man swoops through two buildings, sweeps up Sylar into the air and they explode.
This would have been much better than the wimpy conversation I recall the two brothers having. Of course, Sylar would be dead, unlike the image we saw of his blood trail going into the sewer. But if they really wanted him for next season I'm sure they could have come up with something. Anyway, I just think this would have been a much more charged and confrontational scene this way.
